Room 108 – Laura Christiani Lovas

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Room 108! I’m looking forward to a fun and productive school year! I’d like to take this opportunity to fill you in on all the great activities we are planning.

In Room 108, our goal is to create a positive learning environment in which students can achieve goals both academically and functionally. Therefore, our main focus is working on life skills that will strengthen students’ independence. We accomplish this by visiting the dorm room to make a bed, put away clothes, and vacuum. We work on following simple no-cook recipes, setting the table, and various classroom jobs, such as taking out the garbage and wiping down tables.

We will be exploring some very exciting subjects, such as the weather, the differences between each new season, and recycling around the school. We will also be learning about various holidays such as Yom Kippur, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, St Patrick’s Day and many more! Using the SMARTBoard technology and hands-on experiences, we model real life skills and bring learning to life.

During our weekly CBI trips, we will be visiting places such as Stop & Shop, Target and The Dollar Tree to locate and purchase various items from personalized, pictorial shopping lists. This is where we buy classroom supplies, items needed for lessons, and ingredients for our cooking projects. We also enjoy visiting various restaurants to eat lunch as a class in our local community.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me through email at or at 973-542-0743 extension 108. The best times to reach me are 8:00-8:30am or 2:45-3:00pm.
