Room 203 – Kelly (Horst) Golembeski

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to a fun filled year in Room 203!  I hope you are ready to learn as I know I am ready to teach you great things!

This year we are going to take an expedition deep into learning as we celebrate all things jungle.  We will make learning an adventure!  One of our scientific inquiries this year will be looking into various ecosystems, such as the jungle, and discovering the variety of organisms that are specifically suited to these environments.

Each student’s learning program will contain aspects from the subject areas of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, as well as from the Life-Centered curriculum. These areas are addressed in individual work sessions, small and large group sessions, as well as during Community-Based Instruction (CBI). We plan on visiting many more community sites including Paramus Park Mall, Target, local parks and, of course, restaurants.  We will be practicing vocational and life skills in the class while still fulfilling our academic goals.  As always, the students will be focusing on the skills needed to become productive members of society in their lives beyond school.

I also believe that an open line of communication is vital to student achievement, so I encourage you to use the daily communication book/logs, email me at or call me at 973-542-0743, ext. 203, between 8:00-8:30 and 2:45-3:00.  Please let me know which way you would prefer communications.  I look forward to hearing from you!
