Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to room 205! I am so happy to continue as part of The Phoenix Center team and the classroom teacher. I have had a wonderful time getting to know each student and we have a lot of plans for the school year. Room 205 will continue to be a positive learning environment for students and a great place for them to build their social and academic skills.
Our CBI (Community-Based Instruction) sites include series of trips to Target, Stop n Shop, The Dollar Store and special lunch outings during the year.
In Social Studies, we will learn about various calendar holidays, the related cultures around the world and seasonal activities throughout the year. In Science class, we will participate in lessons about the growth and life cycles of plants and animals using hands-on activities and experiences. During our labs, we will be dissecting plants such as, apples and pumpkins, while learning about the individual parts and functions. Later in the year, we will discuss the different weather conditions that occur in our area and how that impacts our daily routines and activities in school and at home. In the spring, we will raise our own butterflies and celebrate their release into the world.
Maintaining open lines of communication is key to student success. We may communicate through the daily Home-School Communication book- or email. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to let me know your preference in order to best share information.
I look forward to speaking with you at meetings or special events throughout the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by writing in the communication book, emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling me at 973-542-0743 x 205 before 8:30 am and after 2:45pm.
