Room 207 – Christos Karoutsos

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Classroom 207! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you and your student and I’m looking forward to an exciting and productive school year!

Classroom 207 has nine students. Each students schedule includes content from subject areas of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies as well as from the Life Centered curriculum. These subjects are addressed in individual work sessions, small and large group sessions, as well as, during Community-Based Instruction (CBI).

During the school year, our class will be going out in the community to a variety of locations such as Stop and Shop, Target, and the local diner. The focus of these trips is to encourage independence in locating items on a shopping list, money exchange and dining. Functional life skills are addressed each school day by providing opportunities and instruction for activities such as cooking, making a bed, and folding laundry.

I look forward to working with you and collaborating on the best ways to practice and generalize the lessons learned in our classroom. Maintaining open lines of communication is key to student success.  We can communicate through the Home-School Communicator book, email and/or phone calls.  Please be sure to let me know your preference in order for us to best share information.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me 973-542-0743 extension 207. The best times to reach me are 8:00-8:30am or 2:45-3:00pm.

Once again, welcome to Classroom 207.  Let’s work together to make this the best year ever!
