This year, Room 209 has 12 students and eight staff members.
During this school year, our class will be exploring a variety of topics such as, examining the mythology and folklore of various regions around the world, and comparing those stories with the actual history of those countries. We will also explore a number of popular scientific theories related to physics, biology, and the cosmos. As in previous years, Room 209 will be engaging in several community service activities, which include fundraising and environmental awareness activities. The students will also continue to focus on improving and expanding upon their budgeting and money management skills in the community and in the classroom. New to this year’s classroom schedule is an additional vocational skills group. In these groups, students will work on identifying and learning the job skills needed at a variety of potential work sites, the importance of resume building and the application process, how to go about looking for a job, and the interview process. Throughout all of these activities, the students will have continuous access to various forms of technology, in the form of classroom computers and iPads, and individual Chromebooks for every student. This additional technology is being used to enhance the classroom educational experience and expand upon each student’s technological literacy skills.
